A small observation from a meeting of two groups: the theoreticians called the laser probe pulse "it", while the experimentalists used the pronoun "he".
The experimentalists clearly have a closer relationship with the subject. Let's hope they can reconcile this with the fact that they're going to be PLUNGING HIM INTO PLASMA.
I hope none of them end up with more 'rescues' back at thier apartments than thier lease covers.
Oddly, earlier today I attended a seminar by a German physicist whose purpose was to convey his sense of the field. I got to hear a thick Texan accent done in a thick German accent, as well as multiple Hitler anecdotes.
