A small observation from a meeting of two groups: the theoreticians called the laser probe pulse "it", while the experimentalists used the pronoun "he".

The experimentalists clearly have a closer relationship with the subject. Let's hope they can reconcile this with the fact that they're going to be PLUNGING HIM INTO PLASMA.

I hope none of them end up with more 'rescues' back at thier apartments than thier lease covers.

To be fair, another probe pulse created the plasma. And don't worry, all of the probe pulses found their way into a warm, caring spectrometer.

No, but half the theoreticians are Russian. :P

Oddly, earlier today I attended a seminar by a German physicist whose purpose was to convey his sense of the field. I got to hear a thick Texan accent done in a thick German accent, as well as multiple Hitler anecdotes.
