Is there more information when your eyes-circuit is closed?
Are the dots that appear when you close your eyes information? It is known under a certain term, but I do not recall it. Or is it deeper - dreamlike? Or, perhaps, I extended the analogy too far?
*grins* THE pedestal. Raki and I had a discussion about it, and ended up taking the pedestal metaphor too far. Maybe I'll repost the original ramble here, if I don't finish another entry.
"Nictating" is a spelling error, according to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nictitating_membrane). And I once read a story of creatures that had them (much for the same reason as my own critters, although independently "discovered"), and there it was consistently spelled "nictitating".
I think it's inaccurate to call something a spelling error when the deviant usage is accompanied by a change in pronunciation (and the new spelling is correct for the new pronunciation). There's another term, I think.
