That's another feeling identified. When I'm sleepy, closing my eyes is like closing a circuit.

What energy flows in it?

I don't know. Perhaps it's not energy but information.

Is there more information when your eyes-circuit is closed?

Are the dots that appear when you close your eyes information? It is known under a certain term, but I do not recall it.
Or is it deeper - dreamlike? Or, perhaps, I extended the analogy too far?

Yes, too far. I'm reminded of a certain pedestal.

*grins* THE pedestal. Raki and I had a discussion about it, and ended up taking the pedestal metaphor too far. Maybe I'll repost the original ramble here, if I don't finish another entry.

It's kinda like a dimmer switch to me...

It would even more, I'd guess, if you had a haw like a cat does.

...That would be a little freaky for a human, wouldn't it...

Useful, though. Especially for one who wears contact lenses.

It would be useful indeed, and it would not be so freaky if we all had them, or for some, even if only a few had them.

...A haw? Is that a second eyelid?

Yes. Or a nictitating membrane, if you prefer.

..."Nictitating"? Is that different from "nictating", or a synonym?

"Nictating" is a spelling error, according to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nictitating_membrane). And I once read a story of creatures that had them (much for the same reason as my own critters, although independently "discovered"), and there it was consistently spelled "nictitating".

I think it's inaccurate to call something a spelling error when the deviant usage is accompanied by a change in pronunciation (and the new spelling is correct for the new pronunciation). There's another term, I think.

Colloquialism? No, not quite that either..

I generally appreciate what you have to say, but don't respond to every post I make...

I'm afraid if I've got something to say, then I'm just going to say it. *grin*
