Yes, this. Though I see it as a feature, too: that improving myself undermines myself keeps me on my toes, and helps mitigate the damage if I ever improve myself incorrectly, which I know I've done before. :) I'm actually more of a structure person, though there are occasions where it has definitely failed me; I sometimes need to know myself better in order to build structure that will work for me.
