Having overheated, I laid down within the underground portion of my shrine, after first checking that the blue and black fish still swam in the depression nearby. While watching the walls curve around me, I lost time, and was surprised into wakefulness by a man named Jerry who stopped to help. I reassured him that I was alive and okay, then pointed to the stalactite-like growth nearby, and walked back out with him from underneath the bridge. He told me that he needed only four dollars; I gave him five, without memorizing the reason.

I showed him the black fish, the blue-and-red fish, and a swirling school of silver fish, which came in different sizes. Jerry then taught me a new word, 'gigging'. It's like 'spearing', but with a two-pronged instrument. He told me that fish are worth gigging for sport, whereas frogs are worth gigging for food. He asked me whether I was a hunter. I answered no; I leave the hunting up to others, at least for now.
